A Blessed Day!

Today was a day I wasn't sure I would ever get again. In November 2010, my Papa had surgery & almost lost his life. I had a very hard time with it. I have always been so lucky to have my Grandparents in my life. To this day, I am blessed with both sets of my Grandparents. When Papa got sick, it shook me to my core! I couldn't fathom the idea of not being able to hug him again or talk to him again. Still, to this day, that concept is hard for me to grasp. I am close with all of my Grandparents & enjoy spending time with them. My kids know them & love them.

Today, my Papa & Nana flew to Birmingham! My Mom came up yesterday & stayed with us. David had swim lessons so after his swim lesson, we met Mom, Papa & Nana at Schlotzsky's for lunch. I was so thankful & happy to be able to hug my Papa once again! Even though I knew he was going to be here for the next two weeks, I had a hard time letting him go. We had a nice lunch & then Mom, Papa & Nana went to Montgomery. They will be returning on Friday to stay with us for the weekend.

I am looking forward to spending the next two weeks with them!

Mother's Day Weekend

We started Mother's Day weekend with a double header of Moody t-ball. Grandpa & Nanny met us at the ball park & we all got to watch David play some ball.

After the game, we all headed south to Montgomery. The guys dropped us girls at home & they took the kids to the grocery store. Mom & I got to sit on their back porch & have a glass of wine. I really enjoyed the 45 minutes of quiet! :)

Grace on the way to Montgomery with her special drink Nanny bought for her!

Once the guys & kids got back from the grocery store, we all went to the pool in Grandpa & Nanny's neighborhood. The water was VERY cold! The kids got in & loved it, even with their teeth chattering!

Justin had been planning all week a meal to serve the Mommies. The guys cooked for us Saturday night & it was sooooo yummy! We were brought a shrimp appietizer while still on the porch with a fresh glass of wine. We started the meal with a tossed salad (on cold salad plates!) My hubby is so cute! We then were served steak, scallops & a baked potato. YUMMY! For dessert, we had angel food cake with fresh strawberries!

Mother's Day was a nice day! The guys cooked us hashbrowns & eggs for breakfast. Mom & I had planned on seeing a movie. The guys sent us to Kohls to browse before the movie. We got so into shopping at Kohls & finding deals, we decided to skip the movie & continue in Kohls & make a trip to Target. We did a little damage but it was nice to go shopping without the kids & get to enjoy the shopping trip.

For a early dinner, the guys grilled ribs. Again, a VERY YUMMY meal! It was such a fun weekend. It was nice to have some time away from the kids & spend some quality time with my Mom but it was also nice to still have those fun moments playing with the kiddos. I love being home with my kids & wouldn't trade it for the world!

Playing in the sprinkler & duck tub.
(This used to be the bath tub for the kids when they were infants. It made a great pool, even though only one could fit in it at a time)!

As the Wagner clan got home, I realized I went the whole Mother's Day without getting a single picture of myself with my kids! Bad Mommy!! I love taking pictures of my kids (because they are so cute) but I am rarely in any pictures. I'm fine with that but I was wanting to get a picture today. Oh well, tomorrow's another day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommies out there! I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I enjoyed mine!

New Coupon Buddy!

I have a new coupon buddy!

We played a little one-on-one basketball first. I, of course, kicked his butt! We then headed to the local Walgreens for a little retail therapy, with coupons. :)

Nah, just kidding!

After David's t-ball practice tonight, I ran into our local Walgreens to pick up some stuff they had on sale. While in the store, I noticed Charles Barkley picking up some shaving cream. I went outside (Justin & the kids were patiently waiting in the van) & brought them all inside. We met Mr. Barkley & he took a couple pictures with us. He was very nice! He talked to the kids & Justin, of course, plugged Schlotzskys! haha I was surprised how nice & down to earth he is. I told him I felt bad bothering him while he was trying to shop. I'm sure this happens to him all the time. I know how hard & annoying it is to shop with the kids, so I'm sure it is annoying to get bothered by fans. But, he was very nice & said it did not bother him & he asked if we wanted to have a picture with him. Again, so nice!
(The guy who took the pictures for us totally cut David out of the picture! I didn't realize this until after we walked out the store. Ugh!)

How Do I Explain?

I had a funny conversation with David this morning. He asked me who my Grandma is. I told him Oma & Nana are my Grandmothers. He gave me a very upset/mad look & said "No! They are my Oma & Nana, not your Grandma!" I tried telling him that Oma is Grandpa's Mother & Nana is Nanny's Mother. I got the same look & he said"No Mommy! Oma & Nana are not Mother's! They are my Oma & Nana!" I told him they were Mother's first & now are Oma & Nana. He didn't buy it so I ended the conversation as "Yes David, they are only your Oma & Nana."

I thought this was a funny way to start the morning! :)

Swim Lessons

We signed David up for swim lessons at our local YMCA. His lessons started yesterday & will last for 2 weeks, 3 days a week. We signed David up for group lessons. No one else signed up for lessons so they switched David to private lessons. I was really excited about this because now David will get one-on-one attention! :) I took some pictures today at his lesson.

Getting in the water.

Playing shy!

Swimming!

For dinner, I tried something new. It turned out really good & everyone agreed, we should have it again! Ahhh, music to my ears! ;)

Ham Steak & Brown Sugar Apples
**I found this recipe in The Gooseberry Patch, The Cozy Home Cookbook. I have always loved the craft Gooseberry Patch books. When Justin & I got married, I started getting into the cookbooks. They are wonderful cookbooks & the recipes have a craft with them in most of their books. Really cool!**
2T butter
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2T country-style mustard
2 medium tart apples, sliced
1lb ham steak

Melt butter in skillet; blend in brown sugar & mustard. Stir in apples & simmer until apples are just tender; 5-8 minutes. Spoon out apple mixture; set aside. Place ham steak in skillet & top with apple mixture. Over medium heat, cook, covered, until ham is thoroughly heated & done, 5-10 minutes.

Found Treasures!

The last time I was at my Mom's house, she let me go through her craft room. She gave me all her yarn. We also found a couple things she donated to my scarf project! :)

We found two scarfs & a small afghan! This puts me at 15 scarves & 1 afghan!

Lazy Afternoon

We spent the afternoon playing in the driveway. A neighbor friend came over to visit while we were outside. The weather is so nice & it was a perfect way to spend the afternoon!
